Brian + Kat : Halloween Wedding

On my way up to Hickory, NC, the fall colors decorated the trees beside the highway. The clouds hung a little lower that day and were a heavy gray. It was Halloween Day and the perfect day for Brian + Kat’s wedding.

This wedding was for the BOOKS. Not only was it amazing in every way, but mother nature kept us on our toes with torrential downpours and tornado warnings. Nevertheless, Brian + Kat filled every space we were in (even in the rain) with love and joy.

They chose a first look at McGaillard Falls Park. On a normal weather day, I’m sure the waterfall moves a little slower down the river. However, on this particular day, it was rushing with water and created the perfect dramatic effect we needed for their first look.

The ceremony took place in one of the cabins at Henry River Mill Village. If you haven’t been there, it’s an unaltered village of houses that were built in the early 1900s. Among them is the original general store, now locked up, and if you ever do get the chance to go inside, it has a bit of a creepy factor—the perfect backdrop for a Halloween wedding.

After the ceremony, Brian + Kat had planned for their guests to go through a haunted house before the reception. Since they met at a haunted house, this was the perfect event to incorporate into their wedding! Unfortunately, the tornado warning forced the haunted house to close for the night. There are talks we may have to try to plan for a do-over (or maybe it’s just a DO) on one of their future anniversaries. I certainly hope that happens!
